Nemesis, also released in 1992, is the first movie in a series of sequels. This film is a cyberpunk action film set in the near future, where criminals enhance themselves with cybernetic components, making them “more than human”, while illegal androids have also become commonplace. Olivier Gruner (Lionheart) stars in the film as a cybernetically enhanced bounty hunter who is on the run from a militant group, led by Tim Thomerson (Trancers), where he must survive.
What I appreciate of the movie is that while it does draw from previous films like Robocop, Blade Runner, and Terminator, it’s original enough to stand out on it’s own as a hard-boiled cyberpunk film. I did enjoy it overall, but I wouldn’t say that this is my favorite movie. However, it is a good introduction into the genre.
